tuesday's object of desire

Oh hello. Where have you been? You might be mistaken for thinking Tuesday's Object of Desire has been on a looooong holiday, well it kind of has. But it's back! Enough of that wedding stuff, must focus...

Finding a gem which was not wedding related amongst my Etsy favourites proved challenging but I had totally forgotten all about these precious bowls - aren't they cute? I think they would make the perfect Christmas present for a fussy child, or a family of three! Head over to Laura Walls Taylor for more fun ceramics.

tuesday's object of desire

I am addicted. Absolutely addicted. To madeit of course - what else? I guess the first step is admitting I have a problem.

Pretty much every night Mr M laments "Get off madeit!" I think having our computer in the main living area is becoming a problem...

Today's Object of Desire should in fact be 'Objects' - plural. I just can't narrow down all my madeit finds so here is a little collection from my still crochet obsessed mind. You might love almost as much as I do...

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

If you are a super observant and lovely follower you may have noticed my wish list making an appearance over there in the sidebar. It seems almost gratuitous and over indulgent to 'want, want, want' but it does make me feel better putting them all over there in a neat little package, like I've bought them but my bank balance isn't bruised!

One item on the top of my list is a Moroccan pouffe from Table Tonic. If you are again super observant you would have noticed a pink one on the cover of the latest Real Living magazine. Louise, who runs Table Tonic, has a blog also which showcases her products eventual homes at times. One particular apartment in Kuala Lumpur now has two Moroccan pouffes sitting pretty in it (above photo).

I personally really want the aged brown leather one. I wanted a couch in a similar leather but until my budget for couches stretches that far I might just settle for a mini version in Moroccan pouffe form...

{ Wednesday's FOUND Object! }

I was all set to post my Tuesday's Object of Desire yesterday - these lovely labels from A Fanciful Twist. I keep all my plain flour, self raising flour, icing sugar, brown sugar, caster sugar, long grain rice and arborio rice in glass canisters along the top of my kitchen cupboards. They are unlabeled as I am generally the only one in the kitchen and know the precise order they sit in. These labels however would go down a treat in my somewhat organised kitchen.

Then what would you know, I walked into the St Vincent de Paul shop in Seymour to drop off a well overdue donation bag and saw a flour canister calling my name. On further inspection I found a little coffee canister inside. Years ago I acquired my tea and sugar canister without a coffee one due to my non-instant coffee drinking habits. After moving in with Mr M however he has been lamenting the fact that I never got a coffee canister to complete the set. Of course I couldn't walk out without them, and left all of $4 poorer. Awesome.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Short and sharp this morning: these are awesome therefore I want them. The end.

From Williams Sonoma, which is my latest web shopping obsession. I'm trying to teach Monty how to put letters together to make words before he heads off to school next year, but he is definitely more interested in playing with dogs, driving tractors, climbing our great kid friendly oak tree and watching Mr M service the motorbike...Cookies are pretty much the only thing the poor little cottage oven can handle too so these would be a perfect wintery wet Murrindindi day activity.

Find them here.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

It seems we have well and truly hit hot chocolate season here in the cottage of an evening. I can't go past a steamy mug of cocoa in winter, with some pink fluffy marshmallows plopped in and fully melted away. I do all milk too, no water, which can sometimes make my tummy feel funny but generally I'm just like a toddler with warm milk before bed!

I can totally see myself snuggled under my granny rug in front of the fire clasping one of these Belle and Boo hot chocolate mugs - aren't they cute? I love all of Belle and Boo's prints and have just discovered they have a range of homewares and clothing.

For Belle and Boo purchases on Aussie soil hit up Allison over at Lark - you might find some other English yummy surprises waiting for you too...

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Following on from last week's object of desire, these pencils from etsy seller mudpuppy I thought were pretty cool. The idea is to leave one somewhere, in a cafe, in the library, for someone to find. Imagine finding a pretty white pencil and reading this? I don't know if I would give them away though, they would look quite nice on my desk. Last week at kikki-k I bought a pink tin pencil cup from their cykel range (above).

Have a lovely Tuesday - it's wet here today so my plans of a picnic with Monty may have been thwarted. Toasting marshmallows on the fire sounds pretty good to me.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

The to-do list continues...I am trying to jazz up my desk a bit, Mr M has made me some new shelves and I got some new folders, storage boxes and little frames for the walls. (I promise to share photos soon). My pen/pencil holder that sits on my desk is clear plastic, I thought looked very sleek and chic empty...until I filled it with all my odd-bod pens, highlighters, pencils and textas. Now it just looks cluttered and messy.

This super cute pencil cup I found on etsy I looooooove. Great grey and white fabric, just pop in your own tin AND it has a little doggy on it that looks like Tessa! It's from etsy seller The Lab who has heaps of other designs featuring doggies, including baby bibs, magnets, the pup cups and dog toys.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Love, love, LOVE this pretty cardigan from etsy seller Autumn Dame. It was featured in an Etsy Finds email and I was immediately drawn to it's bright colour, cute pockets and gorgeous floral detail. Looking through winter clothes which are inevitably going to be dragged out on parade again very soon, it's all very black, grey, navy, brown, tweed, plaid etc. I think something fun and bright to wear in winter is just what the doctor ordered...too bad I'm on a bit of a spending ban at the moment (possibly due to last week's Spotlight blowout...)

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Gearing up for winter I am drawn to anything cable knitted and cosy looking. I saw these vases on decor8 from Ferm Living and would love to have some sitting on my desk as pencil/pen holders next to my endless stream of cups of tea. I'm pretty sure these would be easy enough to knit...*ahem*...if I knew how to knit. Oh the shame.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Perhaps I am behind the times here, but I have just discovered Zazzle. My Tuesday's Object of Desire this week is this cute pair of Ked's I designed. How cool is it designing your own funky footwear? I didn't upload any fancy design or illustrations but I'd still be pretty happy to kick around in these!

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Again - better late than never, a Tuesday's Object of Desire at past 9pm, oops. I did intend to post this this morning but today was my first official day as nanny to 4 year old Monty, so little preoccupied.

I saw these via The Farmchicks and think they're super cute. All the things I love - vintage imagery, rural aesthetic and a little scalloped edging thrown in for good measure. Valentines Day cuteness.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

I have a confession. One of (many) nicknames that my friends call me is 'Grammar Nazi'. Something which I at times was ashamed of but am now so grateful that my parents and namely my paternal grandmother (who is still with us, living alone, driving and quick witted at a ripe young age of 87) instilled in me and my siblings. Or rather drilled into us.

I am forever correcting people's "Emma and I"'s etc. Incorrect tenses really drive me up the wall. Oh and do not even start me on 'brought' and 'bought' - how do people not know these things?!!!

Anyhow - I digress...this week's Tuesday's Object of Desire are these charming prints from etsy seller Every Eskimo. I would love to have a library one day, and I would love to have these adorning the walls of said library. These gorgeous (oak?) frames had me at hello also.

But alas at the moment what is above and beside my desk (which is housed in the kitchen/living area of the cottage - no seperate study for moi!) are windows - which isn't a bad thing, they overlook the garden so it is quite nice. I just get a bit jealous when I see beautiful inspiration boards and displays sitting proudly above peoples desks.

Every Eskimo has some great vintage finds other than these gems (which have sold, of course). Check it out - the vintage section of etsy chews up the majority of my internet download these days!

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

I have recently rediscovered Ezibuy. My mum used to get the catalogues and I'd love flicking through them when I was a kid. It's especially great for women and families living in rural areas who don't get to Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane very often so can order through the catalogue. Going shopping to Melbourne when I was a little girl was a whole day experience where Mum would drag my sister and I around Bridge Road or Daimaru at Melbourne Central to get the right clothes and school shoes that were going to last us until the next expedition.

I am pretty conscious of not decorating the cottage too 'girly' - since living with Mr M I have had to let go of a lot of my feminine touches, which doesn't bother me at all, I don't want him to be living in 'my house'. It's our home, it should reflect us both. {Although I do try and keep the model tractors and truck photos in his office...sometimes unsuccessfully}.

I digress. I'm pretty sure when I was last familiar with Ezibuy they had very dated homewares, or perhaps I was just 12 and thought that everything seemed very 'grandma?' Whatever the case, I love this quilt. Our spare bedroom is my pink oasis. The master bedroom I wouldn't put too much pink/floral in, but the spare bedroom/my little crafty studio I would love to be very pretty, but not too wishy-washy - punchy girly! Bright pinks and greens rather than pastels.

Too bad I am on a serious spending ban due to unemployment *ahem* self-employment...

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Last week I was late posting, this week I'm doing it at 7am...

This week's Object of Desire is again Christmas related - ho ho ho! I am starting to think about decking the cottage out in all the festive finery, but have made a bit of a pledge that I won't spend any money on Christmas decorations this year so will be recycling last years baubles, stockings and wreath.

But...if I were to splurge, this would be top of my list! Since the cottage has been painted (and yes I am aware I am yet to post photos) our front door is now 'Woodland Grey' and I think a white wreath on it would look fab. This one from Polli is traditional, yet modern - perfect for me. And it comes in my '2009 Christmas colours' red and white.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Bit late today...but better late than never! These felt placemats from Hart and Heim I think would be great for a funky-fied Aussie Christmas table setting. This year I am all about a simple white Christmas with pops of bold red. Plus, these aren't 'too festive' - the love hearts can be used throughout the rest of the year, and aren't something like snowflakes which is ridiculous in a 40 degree Australian December!

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

You may have seen this floating around blogland lately - so it's not the most original Tuesday's Object of Desire I'm sorry, but I loved this idea of broken pieces of crockery doubling as pieces of jewellery. I have quite a fondness for blue and white china {who doesn't?} and have been thinking about displaying some on my kitchen walls, but am afraid my walls are becoming too busy and cluttered for such a tiny space. So, to alleviate my yearning for some willow print I might as well wear some around my neck!

All pieces are from Yarborough - they have earrings, rings and cufflinks as well.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

This weeks Tuesday's Object of Desire...because I think it's pretty, and kitsch and reminds me of housewives I love like Samantha from Bewitched. I remember when I was a little girl I wanted a marriage just like Sam and Darrens!

My recent mantle re-shape was inspired by the gorgeous design elements in The Old Painted Cottage - have you seen it? I love it. Mr M hates it. Ho hum. Admittedly I don't like all of it - but that's just the point of decorating one's home isn't it? It's your own.

Well if you notice by the door of The Old Painted Cottage there is a little frame, on a little table, with some little vintage flashcards? They are from etsy seller CariKraft. And now you can buy them all ready to go! Cool, huh? They also have a heap of other flashcards in case you have anything else you want to say. {Don't we all?}

I would very much like this to go by our back door...which is actually our front door...confusing but the front of the cottage is the deck, which has double French doors that open out onto it from living area and master bedroom, so the back of the cottage is the entry.

P.S. Don't forget to enter my giveaway this week for a chance to win an original Susannah Tucker photo!

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

...because three USB points on my mac is just not enough!

How cute is this little 'flower pot' of bright red tulips? Usually attached to my computer I have my camera, my internet and lately a keyboard or mouse due to my {frustrating} wireless ones not wanting to work anymore. I generally carry my portable hard drive around with me from my home office where I moonlight as a photographer/etsy seller to my dreaded day job, so I always have to unplug things and replug them and get in behind my big mac screen to do it all. Annoying! These little tulips from Fred Flare would certainly brighten my desk too.

Pretty and functional. Love.

{ Tuesday's Object of Desire }

Is it too early? Well, I've gone and done it. My first Christmas item. In October. It's not that bad is it? But these cards are so awesome I HAD to have them as a Tuesday's Object of Desire! They are from new etsy seller rsvme aka Natasha, a talented graphic designer turned mother.

I am a big fan of Christmas cards, nothing better than getting some festive handwritten notes come December. But what about all that paper wasted? These cards are the perfect solution - AND they can be a little Christmas gift for that person that you want to give a little gift too but not sure what. Sage seeds! Genius.

I will definately be getting some of these this year, they can be fully customised to say whatever you like too. I love, love, love them and want to receive one as well as give them to all my family and friends!

Now I'm off to sing winter wonderland and dream of Santa's workshop...
