We moved into the cottage at Ythanbrae in July 2008 and slowly made it our first home together. It was perfect for us: small, quiet, open plan living, massive big deck for barbeques, a dam in front for summer splashing, a horse paddock and hitching rail out the back and an oven that didn't work. Living at Ythanbrae was beyond an idyllic lifestyle, we loved every minute of our time there as caretakers of such a beautiful and magical place.
In the two years we spent at Ythanbrae the cottage was painted inside and out, a new deck was put on, we welcomed Tessa into our family, I bought my 'spirited' horse Archie, I had a bad fall off Archie, I sold Archie and cried, I had the best job in the world as a nanny to Monty, crafter and photographer, we made some great friends, were welcomed into a community, we had probably a hundred beers at the top of Mount Dorothy (one which resulted in a diamond ring) and we pulled, weighed and tagged calves in the wind, rain and sometimes snow.
But the heartstrings were pulling us south. In October 2010 we packed up our tiny home and shipped down to Brindabella. Our new home.
