{ Turlee Station Inspiration }

Turlee Station, run by Sophie and Nathen Wakefield, is in outback NSW and has opened it's doors to accommodation in the property's shearers quarters. Sophie contacted me to find some inspiration for the Australian country style she has envisioned and I was only too happy to put together some mood boards for her.

Sophie wants something quintessentially Australian to give the great sense of the rugged outback environment she calls home, but also needs all the creature comforts of a relaxing getaway home-away-from-home. The accommodation is in a converted corrugated iron shed, with timber laminate floors and the clean lines of a white Ikea kitchen flatpack.  Sophie's main concern was not too be 'too country' - no chickens, no gingham, no hay bales! Sophie and Nathen have Turlee Station Stay blog also and you can see images of the working station and accommodation on flickr

Hi Emma,
Thanks so much for the blog post! I am loving your ideas, you are spot on with my vision for the new rooms. I was so excited that I actually went on a last minute shopping spree on Saturday with your inspirational design tips and picked up lots of bargains locally surprisingly! I found a cheaper version of the provincial clock at Kmart for $15! I think that must have been my bargain buy of the day but I also found some cable knit throws at Spotlight for $30 each and have my eye on a replica chair, cow hide rug and some prints. Will wait and see how were coming in budget wise over the next month or so!!

Thanks again, will be sure to let you know when the rooms are complete and send you through some images. Your help and advice has definitely been taken on board and is very much appreciated!

Thanks,
Sophie.
