The jury for me is still out on engagement parties. I figure the real party will be the wedding, no? Although I guess it all depends on how long you plan to be engaged, your family situation, if you're having a destination wedding and all that jazz. My best friend who is engaged had the mother of all engagements parties (she is one of seven children, yes seven) and she now wishes she had organised a celebrant for a surprise wedding.
So when it came to answering everyone's questions about how we were going to celebrate our betrothal, Mr M and I kind of came up with a blank. Oh...do we have to do something? The wedding will be at my family's property and Mr M's parents are currently in the process of selling the family home, so I thought to have something there would be nice. Something simple, nothing fancy, very casual, with only immediate family members and only our closest of close friends (four couples to be precise).
Here are the invites which I posted off today, made with kraft card from PaperMarc and envelopes stamped with my alphabet stamp set from Lemon Tree and finished off by my Martha Stewart paper punch.

Emma, I have just returned from holidays and was going through all the blogs I've missed reading and was DELIGHTED to read about your engagement.
Congratulations - I am so excited that we get to share the journey with you through your beautiful blog!

Ooh, I love your invites!! Nice and simple and elegant and I love the decorative punched side. I think your idea of having something at your in-laws home sounds perfect x
