Maybe it was posting about my spotty socks the other day. Or perhaps it is realising how many little knick-knacks I have after moving everything in preparation for the painters. Whatever it was, I realised I have a lot of 'favourites'. So - I will be posting 'a few of my favourite things' every now and again. Just some little {and not so little} things that are my treasures for one reason or another.
This little pocket mirror my Nana brought back from her travels to Russia when I was a little girl. My grandparents did a LOT of traveling after retiring. My Nan would always bring me and my sister a doll from the country they'd been to. In my teenage years the dolls stopped and I would get little treasures such as this. I did ballet as a little girl, and out of my two sisters and myself, I was the only one that LOVED being a ballerina. Nan used to take my sister Louise and I on the train to Melbourne in the school holidays to the ballet at the Arts Centre. I thought the Arts Centre was the Eiffle Tower! {It's similar okay?}
This little pocket mirror is a bit tarnished, the mirror rattles a bit and the clasp doesn't quite close but I love it. It reminds me of my Nan and the fact that she knew I would love it because I loved ballet. And she loved taking me to the ballet.
{And to all those American reading this - I will continue to spell 'favourite' with a u!}

Lovely interesting post. That reminded me of the little treasure my own nan gave me...my favourite being a little goldern bird cage that is ment to go on a thin gold chain... but the base use to store solid perfume in it.
And like your mirror.. my bird cage is tarnished abit but I still love it.

PS. I really do love your blog.
Thanks Fee - your necklace that stores perfume sounds so precious!
lovely story - i used to do ballet in melbourne and went to the arts centre frequently! i used to love living there. did your nan do ballet too?
:)
I'm actually not sure...I don't think so as I've never heard her talk about it. She grew up in Melbourne and moved tot he bush after getting married so loved taking us on the train back to her old stomping ground. Because I thought the arts centre was the eiffel tower I thought we were going to paris!
