It's war, a battle, fight of the fittest if you will. I have had enough of my pesky big earred bouncy friends sniggering at my expense and gorging themselves on my fragile new plants in the garden. It's Emma versus The Rabbits. And here is my arsenal...
Take that bunnies! No more midnight snacks on my daisy bushes, no more afternoon dining on my salvias whilst Tessa snoozes (useless guard puppy) and no more munching on my poor little bulbs just poking their heads out of the earth. I'm taking a stand - in the form of bamboo and green plastic.
A few years ago we re-vegetated a few gullies here at Brindabella with native trees and grasses, we were given a heap of bamboo stakes and tree guards from Landcare. Whatever was left over has been sitting in our shed ever since so I had a bit of an aha-moment and banged in these guards around all my new plants. Take that pesky rabbitos!
If you follow me on twitter you would've heard that I recently purchased some plants via mail order. For those wondering, I ended up getting some pink velour salvia, a Sarah Bernhardt peony, a few snow thimble foxgloves and a Jane McGrath rose. After waiting for them to arrive and then lovingly planting them upon arrival in the mail I will be damned if they go to the dogs rabbits! Fingers crossed.
Be afraid bunnies, be very afraid!

up ya, bunnies! Well done.
I want to order some peony's. They're my fav. Do you recommend anyone?
xx
P.S. word ver - lillyped
I got my mail order's from Tesselaar (click on peony link to see the ones I got) My mum has one peony which hasnt flowered in seven years since planting it so I'm not holding out much hope! Apparently they are touchy and take forever to flower. Some awesome ones I saw here though: http://acountryfarmhouse.blogspot.com/2011/06/peonies.html
