The decision of who would stand by us on our wedding day was an easy one.
I have two sisters, Mr M has one brother, he also has two best mates from school (one of whom we both lived with at different times in Melbourne during uni days), Elisha who I have been best friends with since we were born was always going to be my maid of honour and our dear friends from uni Tyler and Kate who were married on Black Saturday with the world's worst best man (Mr M and I had to rush back to Ythanbrae due to the fires) had to play a big part in our day.
The decision was easy, but I wanted a very unique way to ask my bridesmaids. There are numerous 'Will you be my bridesmaid?' cards and gifts around, I did some searching, but I wanted something that was uniquely me and set the tone of the personalised, handmade wedding we have in our minds.
I had dresses made in a cream satin (our wedding colour scheme is going to be very neutral and natural) from this lovely lady on Etsy. I'm not entirely sure what I want for the bridesmaids dresses yet but I know I want them to be vintage Mad-Men style so I had two wiggle-style dresses and two full skirt styles, two strapless and two with scoop necklines and short sleeves. I went on a hunt down Barbie lane in Target for dolls that resembled my sisters and friends - little did I know how hard it was to find brunette Barbies! I then made tags using the fonts and ink colours we want to use throughout our stationery which read:
'I love you more than I love Barbies { which is a lot } Will you be my bridesmaid/maid of honour?'
I was quite Barbie obsessed when I was a little girl so my sisters appreciated the enormity of the love! And here is the result...
