On Tuesday I headed down the mountain and into the big smoke to get some things for upcoming markets (and to meet up with my favourite PNG pikininnies and jungle mama in town). I found my way to Abbottsford, parked in a side street near the shop-fitters I needed to visit, walked around a corner and literally ran into the most delightful little shop.
I saw the A-frame out the front - 'lifestyle store' it said, at first I thought it was all bridal related, hmmm maybe shouldn't go in as I might look like crazy lady obsessed with getting married when I don't have a ring on my finger. Very Muriel's Wedding of me. Then I peeked inside and saw a bit more of a cafe setting. I could do with a takeaway coffee I thought.
In I went and look what I found! It took me about fifteen seconds to realise it was Cristina Re related, then another thirty seconds to realise that this was actually Cristina Re's flagship store, 'Where a Girl Goes'. Indeed! As you can see it was just all too pretty - the seating, the lighting, the displays, all the neatly organised papers, punches, ribbons and stamps. On the walls were beautiful ink sketches of leggy female figures, adorned with various Cristina Re papers in the shapes of draping dresses and billowing blouses.
And the cafe scene was second to none. GREAT coffee, super cute little cupcakes and macaroons and (my favourite part) the coffee machine was not silver, it was not black, not even a funky red you sometimes see in hip Fitzroy cafes - oh no, it was white! Loved it.
I didn't take any photos in there (I was the only one in the store and thought I might look seriously weird taking photos with my phone) but once I got outside I took a snap of the cutest takeaway coffee cup I've ever had the pleasure of purchasing.
Now I've found out that there are high tea parties held there, how amazing would it be for a bridal shower, hens party, baby shower? My next birthday party (wink, wink, hey, hey?!)
How did I not know that this little piece of Melbourne existed? Once upon a time when I lived very nearby this little shop I would've been allll over this new find. I felt so out of the loop! And off I trundled back to the farm in my very dusty big soccer mum car after a dose of Melbourne.
I will be back pretty shop, oh I will be back.
