{ Hydrangea Love }

My Endless Summer hydrangeas struggle in the position they are in, facing the west with the setting sun on them. I know, I know, they need to be on the other side of the cottage but I convinced myself they would be shaded by the chimney and got Mr M to build a new garden bed especially, so I feel bad about moving them now!

No matter, they seem to be still flowering into April. They aren't fantastic (note the yellowing leaves, bit sick) but are the few full blooms I have other than a few unruly roses. Where I grew up the soil is very rich and red and volcanic, producing only blue hydrangeas. My Nana holds a pink hydrangea in such high esteem because she has been unable to produce anything substantially pink despite her best efforts of balancing the pH of her soil. So I feel quite spoilt with my un-fantastic pink hydrangeas! Meanwhile people in this area must crave blue hydrangeas? Grass is always greener (or pinker...or bluer...)

I quite love these green blooms though, aren't they lovely? In fact I love anything A Country Farmhouse has to offer me visually. So simple and cleanly beautiful, I'm going to try and take a leaf out of their book and 'simplify'.

Have a happy short-week!

They're so pretty. I have planted quite a few cuttings this year, including one recently who also faces west! Oh well :)

Don't pink hydrangeas just make your day? :) I have a little one in my living room right now (yes...it needs watering literally every day)...and it just brightens my mood every time I see it :)
