Remember when I went (only a little bit) cuckoo and started naming all of the camellias that are dotted about our garden? Yes well there was one lonely little camellia I failed to name, and to be honest I was quite non-fussed about whether to keep it or not (hence no name). It wasn't big and established like Amelia, Milly or Camille. It was in fact quite straggly looking. I remember Mr M standing there with the chainsaw saying 'Do you want to keep this one?'
And thought I'd better throw in a reminder of what the front yard jungle used to look like...
No wonder I didn't know that little unnamed camellia was in there! Well aren't I glad I kept her, as this week the unnamed, lost and forgotten camellia has burst into bloom. And the flowers are just the kind I like: pretty pink and white tones, tight, full, ball-like blooms unfurling into blousy romantic flowers.
Meanwhile, Camille has been flowering for awhile now. Her colour of choice is a vibrant hot pink. She is oh so out of shape and mis-proportioned but we needed to let her finish her flowering show before taking to her with the pruners in an attempt to fix her up for next year.
Amelia has had buds on her for the longest time, and in my wander around the garden this afternoon I found one lonely little flower unfurling. The same colour as her sister Camille by the looks.
Milly is the same - still full of buds (as seen here) but no sign of flowers yet. But I know from the photos I took last year when we first came to look at the house in September that she has white blooms (which also makes me think she will be the last to flower if she was still going in September).
Hurruh for winter flowers in the garden! Otherwise it's all bare trees and dampness around here. Any ideas as to what I should name the unnamed camellia??
Have a happy weekend xxx

Lovely Camellias! I think each of them deserves their own name!
Millicent.
Oh dearie me I love a good Camellia!
Looks like you've got some beauties there. I need to plant some more. I just love their evergreeness and burst of loveliness in the winter.
Yes, I said winter because that what it bloody is already!
Cecilia. The name I would have given my daughter if I'd had one.
You may name her Gladys after my paternal grandmother, now gone!
