cowgirl charlie

A few weeks back my little niece Charlotte (or Charlie) turned into a big three year old - how does that even happen? I remember the first time I met this little niece of mine at the Yea caravan park way back when we first moved into the house at the bull unit...oh man that house was horrendous! 'Character building' to say the least. Well no shower for a few months, possums literally living in your oven, door kicked in by drug squad (previous tennants, not us!) and frost bitten toes paints the picture. Nice.

Anyway, three years later and the sweet little baby girl has turned into a little cowgirl! Charlies loves all things Toy Story and cowgirl Jessie is her hero. So what is a crafty aunty to make but a cowgirl birthday kit ready to mosey on off into the sunset! I had some fur left over from a playmat I made for our Hereford breeder friends baby boy so thought it would go nicely as a little vest for Charlie the cowpoke. Now, problem was I didn't have the foggiest as to how to make a vest but thought how hard could it be, right? I simply got a size 3 t-shirt from my Little Miss Emma rack, used it as a template for the back panel and one front panel which I mirrored to make it all symetrical. Cut it all out, figure out how to 'line' the front panels (a bit of lateral thinking needed there, not my forte) and a little cowgirl vest we have made! I made a skirt out of the matching red Michael Miller cowpoke fabric with a co-ordinating hem to the vest. The added hem made the skirt a bit longer than what I wanted but I think it kind of gave it a 'prairie-girl' feel. Nonetheless, I think Charlotte was fairly chuffed with her new threads!

what to wear, what to wear

Last year I mused on the possibilities of what to wear on Christmas day, a pretty festive frock would surely fit the bill. But this year it is blisteringly cold in my part of the world, we even had a fire last night, in December! There was snow on the mountains yesterday so who knows, we might even have a white Christmas somewhere in a Victorian summer?? Hmmm perhaps not.

I'd love to think that I could get around in a Dior-new-look and heels number, cheers with some eggnog and sing fa-la-la-la all 1950's housewife on you but the reality is Christmas day is spent in the chaos of ripped wrapping paper, assembling new toys for my nieces, a hit and giggle with champagne in hand on Mum's tennis court and then dinner on the beach with Mr M's family. So casual jeans and shirt it is! This would be what I would want to wear to ring in the arrival of the jolly fat man in the red suit...

The perfect amount of casual comfort, natural thongs, bag and belt, some Christmas sparkle and warm cardigan to snuggle on Christmas evening walk on the beach. What will you be wearing this Saturday 25th?

spring summer launch

Little Miss Emma can see the sun peeking through....can you??

Today is such a strange Victorian day...rain coming in sideways and terribly cold one minute, then the sun comes out and it's a brilliant Spring day?!

No matter - we know that the warmer months are just around the corner...so I have some summertime goodies in store for my lovely Little Miss Emma fans and followers. If you follow me on facebook you would have already seen the range being launched today (slowly but surely...)

I think the new products I love the most are the girls alligator hair clips...

My obsession with cupcakes continues - I can't help it! The Cupcake Pinafore, puff sleeve cupcake tshirt in watermelon and The Cupcake Twirly Skirt now available in both Little Miss Emma's madeit store and on my website.

I promise I am not forgetting the boys...I have already put up these red stripe shorts up for sale but there are lots more denim and nautical themed goodies coming throughout this week as I roll out the whole new range for Spring/Summer.

Yum vs. Yuk bibs are back by popular demand - this time as a set of two (one 'Yum' and one 'Yuk') and made from a stretchy white cotton with a ribbing for the neckline, easy to  pop over little heads quickly! Great presents for baby showers as they are unisex :)

{ Gold and Grey }

All of these sunny days has got me thinking about and preparing for Spring. So rather than hold back some new stock that was planned to be released into my online shop next month I thought I would give a little teaser with this grey and yellow skirt.

 

It is now up for sale on my website, you can choose which fabric you would like to make up the body or hem of the skirt. How much do I love grey and yellow together? Way too much.

{ Little Miss Models }

Back from a weekend spent with my nieces, brother and sister-in-law - playing netball, eating hot chips with way too much sauce, laughing at the umpire and taking some snaps of Charlie in some Little Miss Emma pinafores.

     

Notice the new blue pinafore with pink polka dot elephant??? They will be available this weekend at Mathilda's Market. I tried buttons on that one (with buttonholes) but I am now thinking I might still go with the velcro and have a decorative button? Mums let me know your thoughts and what you would prefer!

A friend from Yea showed me this photo last night too of her cutie Nina in a Little Miss Emma red and navy polka dot skirt...(love her little denim jacket too)

{ Let's Hear It For The Boys }

As an auntie to four little girls and an (obvious) lover of all things pink, I can sometimes be guilty of only catering for girls in my little creations. So lately I have been trying to make a very conscious effort to whip up something for the little men. 

 

 

These onesies will be available at the Modish Market on May 8th and Mathilda's Market on May 30th. There are various sizes and designs so you'll have to get in quick to grab one you like! The vintage children's prints are my favourites, although the elephant is pretty cute too. When I was little I loved elephants, my sister wanted a roller coaster in the front paddock, I wanted a baby elephant that never grew up (obviously). The elephant onesie is available here in my online shop in a size 000.
